Tensile & compression modules

In situ tensile & compression from micro newtons to 10 kN

Tensile & compression module

  • EBSD compatible
  • Deformation device for the scanning electron microscope that fits on the specimen stage like a large specimen.
  • For specimens from 30 to 60 mm length, up to 10 mm wide and up to 4 mm high.
  • large travel range of 40mm
  • Allows force-displacement diagrams.
  • Computer controlled microprocessor unit with extensive software package.
  • one System for all kind of materials and load ranges

Fiber tensile module

  • Enables tensile tests at extremely low forces and finest force resolution (up to 1×10-5 N).
  • Tensile speeds allow from 0.1 to 20 µm/s very targeted strain tests due to high stiffness.
  • In-situ observation at magnifications of over 10 000 x are easily possible.

Micro tensile module

  • Sample stage attachment for the SEM, can also be used under the light microscope.
  • Designed for mechanical loading, e.g. static or alternating loading on small and very small solids by piezo-controlled gripping mechanism.
  • Surfaces of the micro tweezers unusually resistant to hold mineral objects or those made of hard metals without leaving traces.

CT-tensile module

  • The device is a further development of the tensile/compression modules for tomography devices.
  • During the tomographic measurement, the entire mechanics remains stationary, only the specimen is rotated synchronously by two motors.
  • Tensile and compression tests up to 2’000 N (optional: 5’000 N), bending tests up to 2’000 N, torsion of the specimen up to 3 Nm.
  • includes adapter for mounting on z-stage  of tomography station

Laminogrophie-Modul (Faserzug Heizung)

  • Maximum Height of 26 mm in ROI.
  • Stiff, self-locking mechanics for in-situ tensile/compression tests.
  • High configuration flexibility of clamps and motor.
  • Typical application is Laminography experiments in a synchrotron.
